Hearts of Oak coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has confirmed that defender Dennis Nkrumah Korsah has left the team ahead of the upcoming season.
Korsah, who was signed from Ebusua Dwarfs in 2022, had been an integral part of the Phobians’ success, helping them win the FA Cup and President Cup in 2022.
His impressive performances earned his first Ghana call-up in the same year.
However, the 2024 Homowo Cup game against Heart of Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday marked the end of Korsah’s tenure with the team.
The defender was not included in the squad for the match, which Hearts of Oak won 8-7 on penalty shootouts.
Asked about Korsah’s departure, Ouattara emphasized that the team is moving forward with a new strategy, focusing on teamwork rather than individual names.
“We are in a new era and this time, it is not about names. The names are not important. It is a strategy we are putting in place to fit everyone,” Ouattara said.
“Michael Ampadu is injured, that is why he didn’t play, but for Korsah, he is not with us any more,” he added.
Hearts of Oak is set to begin their 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign with a home game against Basake Holy Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.
