-

The Ga people celebrate Homowo in remembrance of famine that once happened in their history in precolonial Ghana.
It serves as a reminder of their ancestral roots and the challenges they overcame throughout history.
This year’s celebration commenced with the Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi-Bonte II, the Adobten (Head of military of the Ga State), sprinkling of the Kpoikpoi from his palace, along the main streets of Ga Mashie, leading to the Usher Fort.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II included the traditional sprinkling of kpokpoi in the Ga stool houses, accompanied by lively drumming, dancing, and musketry firing.
Tourists and members of the diaspora graced the occasion to witness the beautiful tradition.
