The Special Prosecutor (OSP), Kissi Agyebeng has confirmed former President John Mahama as the Government official one in the Airbus bribery scandal.
Mr Agyebeng disclosed this at a press conference on Thursday following the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP)’s conclusion of the investigation.
The OSP said Mr Mahama was identified as Government official one by the UK and US courts.
However, the OSP established his identity because his tenure as Vice President coincided with the US and UK courts’ first investigation of the Airbus case.
He explained that, the investigation into the scandal and the revelation of the identities of the persons involved were necessary due to the public interest in the issue.
This revelation confirms an assertion made by former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.
“The OSP confirms the identity of the following individuals. The individual described as Government official 1 by the UK court and individual one by the US court is John Dramani Mahama. He is a citizen of Ghana and was the Vice-president of Ghana from 7 January 2009 to 24 July 2012,” the OSP stated.
He further established the identity of intermediary 5 and Samuel Adams Foster, a brother of Mr Mahama.
Mr Agyebeng also confirmed the identities of intermediary 6 and 7 respectively as Philip Sean Middlemiss and Sarah Leanne Davis who were business associates of Samuel Adams
