Angry PBC workers demand probe into financial issues [Audio]

-

Workers of the Produce Buying Company of Ghana (PBC) are appealing to state agencies to probe its management concerning financial issues.

The workers have also called on the government to if possible dissolve the management as they have let PBC down.

Akim Oda District Manager of PBC, Frederick Kwame Boachie made the call on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Thursday.

Mr Boachie said PBC is sinking in debt, a situation the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr Joseph Aidoo Boahen confirmed.

“The COCOBOD CEO revealed PBC owes GH₵280 million which the management admitted to and we [workers] believe that is what is costing PBC. The workers have committed no sin and we cannot continue to suffer for what we know nothing about.

“So we want the government who appointed these people to come in, investigate PBC’s finances and let’s know the way forward. Monies deducted from our provident Fund 1 and 2 cannot be accounted for likewise our investments,” he stated.

This follows their demonstration on Wednesday, August 7 at PBC’s headquarters to demand the payment of their one-year unpaid salaries.

Mr Boachie has hinted the workers will not rest until the right things are done to save PBC, adding management is already selling off vehicles.
