President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sworn in Deputy Chief of Staff, Fawaz Aliu and two others as new Ambassadors.
Mr Aliu has been appointed Ambassador-At-Large in addition to his current role.
The two others are Major General Charles Kojo Abedi Awity Ghana’s Ambassador to Serbia, and Mr. Peprah Ampratwum, Ambassador In-See-to.
The trio were sworn in at a brief ceremony at the Jubilee House on Wednesday.
President Akufo-Addo was confident the three will excel in this new role, and further strengthening Ghana’s diplomatic efforts worldwide.
The President charged the new Ambassadors to help deepen the ties between Ghana and other countries as well as connect Ghana to investment opportunities.
Major General Abedi on behalf of his colleagues, pledged to serve Ghana in an exemplary manner.
Mr Aliu and Mr Ampratwum’s appointment follows that of Nana Asante Bediatuo as an Ambassador at Large in June 2024.
The appointment generated a lot of controversy, with many questioning whether Nana Bediatuo will still be the Executive Secretary at the Presidency.
A section of Ghanaians also questioned both the timing and necessity of the appointment, calling it insensitive to the concerns of the Ghanaian populace.
