The Minister of Health, Dr. Bernard Oko Boye, has informed Parliament that the government has paid $312 million to contractors engaged in the construction of the Agenda 111 hospital projects across the country.

Though no Agenda 111 project has been completed, the Minister revealed that the initiative has been expanded to include two psychiatric hospitals and one national psychiatric hospital, bringing the total to 114 facilities.

Dr. Oko Boye made these comments when he appeared before the Assurances Committee of Parliament.

The total estimated cost for the projects is $1.756 billion.

The Minister stated that, the group managing the projects, Hospital Infrastructure, has reached various stages of completion, with progress ranging from 5% to over 80%.

Despite facing challenges such as land acquisition, architectural works, and the locations of the projects, the Minister assured Parliament that by the end of 2024, over 28 facilities will be operational, although he cautioned that specifics might vary.

Upon completion, the projects are expected to employ over 60,000 personnel.

The Health Minister assured that, the projects will be completed to serve the people.

The Committee has ordered the Minister to furnish it with the architectural plans and cost details, which the Minister said were not immediately available.
