Ambulance trial: Go ahead and do your worst – Edudzi tells Godfred Dame [Listen]

-

Lawyer representing the first accused in the ambulance procurement trial, Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe has slammed Attorney Genera,l Godfred Dame for his reaction to the Court of Appeal verdict.

The court acquitted and discharged the Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson and businessman ,Richard Jakpa who were accused of causing a €2.37 million financial loss to the State in a deal to purchase 200 ambulances between 2014 and 2016.

The Appeal Court ruled that the two had no case to answer, reversing an earlier High Court decision.

In response to the ruling, the Attorney General described the decision as “perverse” and “grossly unfair to the nation,” stating that it undermines public accountability and the rule of law.

He announced plans to appeal the ruling.

But in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Mr. Tamakloe said that questioning the court’s decision is inappropriate.

He said, “If the Attorney General disagrees with the judgment, he should file an appeal and argue it in court.”

Mr. Tamakloe suggested that Mr. Dame should apologize to Dr. Ato Forson rather than complain.

“Whatever he wants to do, let him go ahead and do it. We are ready. What Godfred Dame doesn’t know is that Cassiel Ato Forson is not a coward; he is willing to stand up to anything. Nobody is afraid of Godfred Dame’s threat”.

Mr. Tamakloe also questioned whether the Attorney General had a personal agenda.

“I even asked Ato Forson if he has not gone for Godfred’s girlfriend because the hatred against Dr Forson is too much. He should do his worse” he dared.
