Election 2024: We need change to hold NPP accountable – Ablakwa

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has called on Ghanaians to vote for change in the upcoming elections to ensure accountability for the incumbent government’s actions.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Mr Ablakwa emphasised the need for a new leadership to address what he described as a “national decay” under the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In his view, Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, would not bring the necessary changes.

“Dr Bawumia cannot represent that break that this country needs; the current quagmire, national decay will not change.

“The only way we can all get to the bottom of all these things is for Ghanaians to vote for change,” he stressed on Wednesday.

Highlighting his efforts in uncovering scandals while in opposition, Mr Ablakwa suggested that more issues would come to light if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is voted into power.

“Look at the kind of scandals I am unearthing in opposition, you can imagine what we would find when NDC takes over.

“That is why I agree with Mahama saying that a vote for Bawumia is a vote for President Akufo-Addo.’ This is because when Bawumia comes into power, he will protect and cover up all these rots. So just for accountability, we need change,” he stated.

He stressed the importance of recovering misappropriated funds for national reconstruction.

“We can retrieve our money; the billions of dollars in the wrong hands and pockets ought to be retrieved for national reconstruction and I hope electorates will not disappoint Ghana” Mr. Ablakwa added.
