Relatives sent to Norway to bring body of late paralympic coach missing – NPC boss

-

The President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) has revealed that the relatives sent to retrieve the body of the coach of the “fake paralympic team” that travelled to Norway have also absconded upon their arrival.

The NPC is facing strong criticism after 11 alleged para-athletes who travelled for the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon disappeared upon landing in Oslo.

According to a statement from the Ministry of National Security, the athletes were supposed to participate in the marathon but failed to even register for the event.

One member of the group was arrested while trying to enter Sweden, and the team’s coach, George Gyamfi Gyasi, died in a hospital after collapsing. The whereabouts of the remaining nine individuals are unknown.

In an interview with Asaase Radio, Mr. Deen disclosed that the relatives of the deceased coach, who were sent to bring his body back to Ghana, also absconded upon arriving in Norway.

“If you look at the first application, it was six or seven people who applied and were denied visas. They subsequently wrote to the Norwegian Embassy again and requested to send the families of the one who died. The people went, they couldn’t bring the corpse. The four also absconded. These guys are known; they have been identified” he added.

Meanwhile, the NPC has reported the matter to the Police, and investigations into the scandal are ongoing.
