A Nissan Pickup belonging to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Binduri Constituency, has been set ablaze by unknown individuals.
The incident occurred at the residence of Constituency Chairman, Samuel Ayaago in Atuba, Binduri District on Monday, July 22.
According to eyewitnesses, between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm, three masked men on two motorbikes fired shots at the front of Mr Ayaago’s house, pouring a liquid believed to be petrol on the vehicle with the registration number GX 4164–17, resulting in its destruction.
Citi news reported that, the recent attack adds to similar attacks that occurred in the Zebilla and Pusiga constituencies in June this year.
The perpetrators of these attacks vented their anger on the NPP party vehicles and posters that had pictures of the NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia embossed.
The car was reportedly being used by Abdulia Abanga, Member of Parliament for the area and Deputy Minister for Local Government, for his campaign activities.
The MP, during his visit to the scene, expressed regret for the action and called on the law enforcement bodies to take action and apprehend the culprits.
Mr. Abanga admonished the constituents, especially members of the NPP to remain calm while the police investigate the incident.
