African Games: Every penny will be accounted for – Sports Minister

-

Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, has assured that a detailed account will be provided for all expenditures related to hosting the 2023 African Games.

Ghana hosted the 13th edition of the continental competition in March, with the University of Ghana Stadium and Borteyman Sports Complex serving as the main venues.

During a parliamentary session on Tuesday, June 25, Ussif discussed the aftermath of the games.

However, the financial report was not included in his briefing but clarified that the expenditure details were omitted because he had been asked to present a separate report to Parliament.

“We are not hiding anything. I want to make that clear. Every cedi will be accounted for. Rest assured,” Ussif stated.

He also emphasized the need to congratulate Team Ghana for their achievements, noting, “So far, the Minority has not issued any statement congratulating the sportsmen and women who worked hard to elevate the country’s flag” he added.

Ghana finished the games with a total of 69 medals, the highest medal count in the country’s 59-year history of participating in the competition.
