-

The La Traditional Council has today launched the 2024 Homowo festival, emphasizing the occasion as a means to promote peace and development.

An elaborate plan has been put in place to ensure the festival’s success and make it memorable for the entire La Traditional Area, with the ultimate objective of restoring the town’s status as a charming and peaceful model community.

The Traditional Council officially launched the Homowo celebration at the Labadi Beach Hotel.

The theme for this year’s celebration is: “Development through Good Neighborliness and Peace; the Role of Traditional Festivals.”

Although preparations and rites began in May, the climax of the activities start from August 5th to 30th.

Some of the activities lined up for the celebrations include Blɔiahejuu, Wɔtɛjuramɔ, Shibaa, Gbɛmlilaa, and many others.

Nii Adjei Kofeh, the La Shikitele, explains the importance of witnessing the uniqueness of Homowo and participating in the celebration.

Furthermore, he refuted claims that Homowo is fetishistic or for lesser gods, calling on all businesses to participate in the festival to reap its benefits.
