Former Chairman of Parliament’s Committee on Roads and Transport, Samuel Ayeh-Paye, has provided reassurance that the government is actively addressing the recent power challenges, popularly known as ‘dumsor’, and expects it to end by the close of May 2024.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show, Ayeh-Paye expressed confidence that the Akufo-Addo administration is committed to resolving the issues as promised.
“We’ve kept the light on for the past seven years. What has been happening is just some outages that we’re working on, and we want to assure Ghanaians that by the end of May, in less than a month, we’ll not see these things again,” Ayeh-Paye stated during the interview.
He also revealed that the Twin City Energy power project, which commenced commercial operations on July 30, 2021, has been completed and is ready to be linked to the national grid to improve the electricity situation.
According to Ayeh-Paye, there is no need to issue a timetable for power outages as some Ghanaians have requested because the situation is expected to be resolved by the end of May.
The assurance comes amid concerns over recent power outages that have affected various parts of the country. Ayeh-Paye’s comments provide hope to citizens who have been enduring the disruptions in their daily lives.
