The Ayensuano District Court in Coaltar has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of one Gertrude Oppong for disobeying an order to appear before court on two occasions.
The accused person Gertrude Oppong, is facing a trail for some derogatory statements made against the Kyebi Apapam akwansrahene Nana Baah and the Overlord of the Akyem Abuakwa State Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin.
The lady is reported to have passed some defamatory comments against the Kyebi Apapam akwansrahene and Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin and the Okyeman Land Protection Taskforce.
Getrude Oppong is alleged to have made those remarks at Asuaba during a press conference on behalf of about 20 communities who expressed their displeasure over the alleged seizure of their farmlands.
The accused is also facing criminal charges with some four counts including conspiracy to commit crime to wit offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace contrary to section 23(1) and 207 of the criminal and other offense act 1960, Act 29.
The court presided over by His Lordship Joseph Mensah issued a bench warrant for her arrest after she failed to appear before the court today when the case was called.
The accused has refused to appear before the court on two occasions.
Meanwhile, the Okyeman Akwansrahene Barimah Asiedu Bekoe has reinterpreted that, the Okyehene is the allodial title owner of all lands within the Akyem Abuakwa State spanning to Adoagyiri.
He has advised the public to be very careful dealing with real estate companies who’re selling lands wantonly within the area adding that, KOANS Estate doesn’t own any land in Akyem Abuakwa hence those dealing with him do so at their own risk.
Barima Asiedu Bekoe added that, the Okyeman Taskforce will not relent on their effort to protect lands belonging to Akyem Abuakwa. He said they will use all legal means to protect their property.
