The leadership of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has taken steps to suspend its nationwide indefinite strike action.
This follows an agreement with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) following the intervention of the National Labour Commission (NLC).
The strike which took effect from Monday, January 29, 2024, was to express dissatisfaction with the government’s disregard in resolving their welfare issues.
In a memorandum of agreement signed by GTEC and GAUA on Thursday, the two parties have agreed to withdraw the case from the NLC and will continue engaging as and when necessary.
They have among other things also pledged to take all necessary steps to prevent a future occurrence of this impasse.
