Ghanaian actor, Joseph Nana Osei, popularly known as Wayoosi, has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to abolish the recently introduced emission levy.
He expressed concern about the additional financial burden imposed by the new levy amidst an already challenging economic climate.
In a TikTok live video, Wayoosi lamented the lack of tangible benefits from these levies.
“Things are tough for Ghanaians at the moment and you are adding this one too?.” he quizzed.
Wayoosi could not fathom why Ghana has introduced this levy when many countries with high levels of pollution do not impose emission levies.
“If we don’t take care, we will soon pay eating levy. The duty should be reduced so that people can buy good cars to avoid too much smoke” he said.
