A man with a partner 37 years his senior says people always mistake them for a grandson and grandad duo. Others assume he’s a gold-digger, but the they say they couldn’t be more in love.
Aaron, 29, and his husband Michael, 66, who now live in Dublin, met when Aaron was doing an internship in New York, aged 23, and the pair found love on the dating app Grindr.
Aaron has a self-confessed type of older men, so when meeting Michael, he knew he’d found the one as it was definitely love at first swipe.
Despite this, their marriage has received a lot of scepticism, especially from Aarons friends who know Aaron for “playing the field”.

The whirlwind romance inspired Michael, originally from New York, to fly to Dublin during the pandemic. The couple spent lockdown together and have been inseparable ever since.
What was meant to just be a hook-up, led to the couple eventually tying the knot, with Aaron explaining how “easy on the eye” his older partner is as he feels as if he’s “living in dreamland”.
Even one of Aarons close friends revealed they are a “strange couple but work very well together”.
Opening up about their love story on Truly TV series, Love Don’t Judge, Aaron and Michael share all the highs and low’s of their relationship, even the negative comments they face daily.
Aaron explained: “I suppose the question that comes to people’s minds straight away would be ‘this must be your son’ but it’s my husband.
“I don’t think people purposely think we’re father and son, which is a fair assumption as it’s not your typical relationship.”
Other comments Aaron receives are remarks such as that he has ‘Daddy issues’ or that he’s a ‘gold digger’ and asking “how much does he [Michael] have in the bank?” but he takes it in his stride, laughing it off.
“It’s funny being called a gold digger, because I didn’t choose to be gay,” he adds.
Stating that he’s authentically “into older men” Aaron shares he still works really hard, despite people telling him he’s only with Michael to be in the will.
He added: “I could be earning a million pounds a year and people would still call me a gold digger. It discredits my life.”
Michael shared: “These people are just bitter and hostile.”
