Photographer deletes couple’s wedding pictures after being denied food

A photographer has revealed that they deleted a bride and groom’s wedding pictures after the couple refused to let them stop to eat.

Sharing their story on Reddit, the anonymous poster explained that they are a full-time dog groomer who enjoy taking pictures of their client’s dogs and sharing them online, “it’s ‘my thing’ if that makes sense,” they said.

One of their friends recently approached them asking whether they could be their wedding photographer as they were trying to keep costs down.

While the dog groomer was unsure at first, their friend convinced them by saying “he didn’t care if they were perfect”.

“They were on a shoestring budget and I agreed to shoot it for $250, which is nothing for a 10-hour event.”

But things didn’t exactly go as planned.

On the wedding day, the original poster drove around following the bride from appointment to appointment, so they could take pictures of the preparation before eventually arriving at the venue ready to photograph the ceremony and reception.

Amongst all this, they hadn’t had a chance to take a break or to even eat as they recalled “I started around 11 am and was due to finish around 7:30 pm.”

So, when the dinner service opened up for other guests, they expected to be able to grab a quick bite to eat – but this wasn’t allowed.

They said: “I was told I cannot stop to eat because I need to be a photographer; in fact, they didn’t save me a spot at any table.”

Tired, hungry and hot, the photographer was starting to regret their decision to help out, as there was no open bar and they’d run out of water long before dinner service.

But the groom was not in the mood to cater for their needs.

“He tells me I need to either be a photographer or leave without pay. With the heat, being hungry, being generally annoyed at the circumstances, I asked if he was sure, and he said yes, so I deleted all the photos I took in front of him and took off saying I’m not his photographer anymore.

“If I was to be paid $250, honestly at that point I would have paid $250 just for a glass of cold water and somewhere to sit for five minutes.”

They concluded their post by asking users whether they were in the wrong, but they assured him that the reaction was justified.

One person said: “You could have risked your health and they treated you like sh*t.”

Another wrote: “They seriously expected her to work for 8.5 hours without food, with little water and no break. While let’s be honest, she was doing this as a favour and not cause of the money. How did they think this would go?”

A third commented: “Honestly though too, who [the f**k] wants photos of them eating? Like realistically?”

While a fourth put: “He told you to leave without pay and you called his bluff.”
