Chairman of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) Selection Committee, Peter Mac Manu has rubbished claims that he is to blame for the chaos in Savelugu in the Northern region.
His comment follows the clash by the youth of Savelugu-Nanton in the Northern region over the appointment of their Municipal Chief Executive, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu.
The joint force of executives from Savelugu and Nanton who are against the appointment of the MCE stormed the Assembly’s office complex on Thursday June 15, 2017 to prevent her entering his office.
However, the Member of Parliament for the area, Mohammed Saeed blamed the clashes on the Mac Manu committee for failing to do due diligence before nominating the MCE.
This notwithstanding, he indicated that, he has engaged eminent persons to mediate between the two parties for an amicable solution.
But Mr Mac Manu reacting to the issue said the MP as well as the youth have no case because they could have voted against the MCE if they did not want her.
He added that their protest is lawless and therefore nothing can be done about it.
Mr Mac Manu also appealed to the angry youth to refrain from lawless acts as there are other positions for their preferred candidates.

Meanwhile, Hajia Ayishatu Seidu was escorted by security to office Monday morning and is still under heavy security guard to prevent the angry youth from disrupting her work.
ASP Yusif Tanko says the police will continue to protect the MCE until the threat against her is no more.
