COVID-19: Beiersdorf Ghana Limited donates 50,000 pieces of Nivea Skin Care products to GHS

-

Beiersdorf Ghana Limited, producers of Nivea Skin Care Products, has donated a total of 50,000 pieces of Nivea crème skin and hand care products to the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

The donation, according to the Country Manager of Beiersdorf, Olivier Bodson, forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility dubbed ‘Care Beyond Skin.’

Mr Bodson said the donation of the items is to ensure that health workers’ skin is well moisturised in the wake of COVID-19 fight.

“Healthcare workers across the country continue to provide essential services in a bid to fight COVID-19 and doctors, nurses and medical practitioners across are constantly washing and disinfecting their hands as they treat and care for COVID-19 patients. This means that their hands require extra care, protection and moisturisation due to the fact that frequent hand washing and sanitising can lead to extra dryness, which leaves the skin prone to developing micro-tears,” he stressed.

“The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is communal and at Beiersdorf Ghana, we are committed to join forces with communities to aid in flattening the curve,” he said.

“We have previously donated over 1,500 litres of hand sanitisers to government healthcare facilities, hospitals and vulnerable members of our community in an effort to prevent further spread of the COVID-19 virus,” said Mr Bodson to the press during the presentation.

However, Mr Bodson cautioned that the fight against the pandemic is far from over and there’s the need for Beiersdorf Ghana to continue making positive contributions towards flattening the curve through our ‘Care Beyond Skin’ social initiative.

Receiving the items, the Director-General of the GHS, Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, expressed his appreciation to Beiersdorf Ghana for the donation.

According to him, the donation will motivate the health workers to do their best to support the fight against COVID-19.
