Commend ICT teacher who used stones as computer mouse – MP

-

Member of Parliament for the Assin South has described as brilliant the decision by an ICT teacher to use stones as computer mouse to teacher students.

Hon. John Ntim Fodjour said the teacher needs to be commended but not condemned.

His comment follows a viral video on social media showing some pupils practicing how to click a computer mouse with stones during an ICT class at the Assin Asamankese D/A Primary School in the Assin South District.

A class six teacher, Augustine Kusi, said for years the school has had no access to a single computer hence his decision to use the stones.

But the story has generated a lot of controversy with some calling for the teacher to be sanctioned.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) argue that what teacher did is against their code and conducts and needs to be sanctioned.

But Hon. Ntim Fodjour who is happy about the teacher’s action said the he did not err.

In support, the Institute of Education Studies (IES) said they do not see anything wrong with what the ICT teacher did by using stone in place of mouse to teach the pupils.

Director of Research at the institute, Peter Partey Anti indicted that Ghanaians should rather blame GES and Minister of Education for the ‘mess’.

He urged them to rather provide logistics needed for the subject in the school.
