The real reason why your brain never wants you to exercise

-

Do you know the reason?

Occasionally, we all realise that exercising is important for a healthy and fit body. But when the time comes to actually tie up our laces and sweat it out, we prefer to stay indoors and binge-watch our favourite show.

Most people even complain that they do not have enough time to exercise, which is just another excuse to evade exercising. But why does this happen? Even after knowing all the health benefits and importance of exercising daily, we often fail to incorporate physical activity into our daily life. Here in this article, we will try to solve this common dilemma faced by most people on a regular basis.

02/8The finding

For the study, a team of researchers at the University of British Columbia selected 29 participants. The participants were made to wear electrodes that registered their brain activity and then were asked to look at images of either physical activity or physical inactivity. They had to first move their on-screen avatars toward the active pictures and in the second test, they were asked to do exactly the opposite.

At the end of the study, the researches concluded that volunteers moved faster toward physically active pictures than toward the inactive images. However, their brain was more active while moving their avatars away from the inactive images than moving toward them.

03/8Why should you do

It is quite difficult to convince our mind to move our body. No matter how hard you try to convince yourself to engage in any kind of physical activity, the chances are you might not succeed. For that, you need some kind of enticement. If you find exercising tedious, choose some kind of physical activity, which is more like a game.
