No kissing, please: The new rules of dating in the age of ‘social distancing’

-

The pandemic has changed our lives and how! After multiple successive lockdowns, it seems even the government has relaxed the rules a little.

Besides red zones, where the number of newly infected cases are yet to come down, people in other zones are slowly limping back to normalcy.

But that does not mean we should ignore social distancing because the practice of maintaining a safe distance has been a saviour so far. So even after we start getting back to the life we led before Coronavirus threatened our existence, we have to be very careful especially when we meet new people.
If we have to be careful about meeting new people, then the rules of dating someone new too needs to be revised, right? In case you haven’t heard about asymptomatic Covid cases, let us tell you that there are people who carry the virus but they do not have any symptoms like fever, coughing, difficulty in breathing etc.

So, you never know the smart and healthy guy or the beautiful girl you are going out on a first date might be carrying the virus without giving any signs of it. So, let’s look at how the new dating scene would be after the lockdown is over.

Dress code: mask and gloves mandatory!
Gone are the days of paying extra attention to how you would look on a date. Especially, for girls who would carefully choose the shade of their lipstick to match the outfit they are wearing. The same goes for men who takes great pride in their masculine jawline. Because no matter what you wear or how you groom, wearing a mask and gloves will give some much-needed protection. Dressmakers and fashion houses have already realised how masks will become indispensable accessories now onwards and no wonder they have started manufacturing masks to compliment an outfit.
No kissing, please! Same goes for hugging and holding hands
Not all would try to get physically proximate on a first date, but if the evening turns out to be much better than what the couple expected, they might be tempted to exchange a quick kiss, right? But not under the current circumstances. Kissing is an absolute no-no and not even holding hands or hugging can be a good idea. No matter how promising or romantic the evening might look like, don’t get too close, folks!

What should you say if your date wants to drop you home?
Now, this the perfect end to a successful date when one asks the other if he or she could drop the other person home. After an eventful evening, a romantic drive would only make the experience more worthwhile, right? But things have changed and going on a drive in the same car with your date will only increase your chances of getting infected if the person is asymptomatic. So, the best way to avoid this embarrassing situation of refusing a ride home is choosing to meet the person near your home or driving your own car to the venue!
