First thing couples plan to do after the lockdown is over

It’s been over a month since the lockdown started in India and people have been following social distancing and self-isolation religiously.

This difficult period has taught us some important life lessons while making us realise how precious is our relationships with our near and dear ones.

While some are spending time indoors with their loved ones, a few unfortunates might have been caught unaware by the lockdown far away from home while on out-of-station official duties or otherwise. As the days have turned into months, people’s morale too seemed to have downed a little.

To help everyone look at the brighter side while they wait for the lockdown to be over, we asked them what is the first thing they would do with their partner/spouse after this is over. Here are some heart-warming replies:

We will visit our parents

Anamika and Rahul Baruah, both from Assam, are now residents of Bengaluru. They were planning to visit their hometown in Guwahati during Bihu, which is celebrated in mid-April. But they had to drop their plan. “The day inter-state flights become operational, we will go to Guwahati where both our respective parents live. We will spend time with them because we have been so worried. Both our parents are old and not in the pink of their health. So, we are worrried about how would we visit home if there was any medical emergency or otherwise. Yes, that’s why we would visit home the day the lockdown is over,” shared the young couple.

We will book a room in a hotel for a few days and enjoy

Ayushi and Nitin Jain, a married couple in their mid-thirties, would have defined the lockdown as the ‘perfect time’ had they not been forced to do all household chores. They are waiting eagerly for the day when their support staff would be back. “We would book the most luxurious room in a hotel where we would get everything done by room service. No cooking, no cleaning and nothing to worry about. We will spend an idyllic week where we would not move a finger. This is how we plan to celebrate after the lockdown is over,” said Ayushi and Nitin.

Throw a house party for friends

Boredom seems to be the bane for many couples during the lockdown. And to break the monotony, Nikhil and Abha Sharma plans to throw a house party after the lockdown is over. “It has been months since we met our friends. We have just been married for a year but have known each other since our college days. So we have a lot of common friends and they are like our extended family. After the lockdown is over, we plan to have a house party only if the threat of Coronavirus no longer persists,” said the duo stressing on the fact that in case they require to maintain social distancing, they would drop their plan of a house party.

We will still be careful and maintain social distancing

Some couples are very pragmatic about it. Umesh and Sunita Nair believe the threat of Coronavirus infection would still loom large even if the lockdown is curtailed. “We are both senior citizens and for us, safety comes first. Even after the lockdown is over, we would maintain social distancing and prefer staying indoors. We would spend the days together doing the things we like,” said Umesh and Sunita.

My wife would finally be home!

Many couples are spending time together but Hrishikesh and Pallavi aren’t that lucky. The lockdown was announced when Pallavi had gone to her parent’s place in Hyderabad before the festival of Ugadi and she is stuck there. Her husband Hrishikesh is spending time alone in their Mumbai apartment. “When the lockdown is over, I will finally get to meet my wife. I am missing her a lot and the lockdown has made me realize the importance of a life partner. My wife and I share everything with each other, so spending so much time apart is very tormenting. I am looking forward to spending meaningful time with my wife after the lockdown is over,” said Hrishikesh.
