Special Advisor to President Akufo-Addo on health, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, has credited Ghana’s low death rate in relation to the coronavirus to the good works of health workers.
Dr Asare also gave credit to government for working according to the directives put in place to contain the spread of the virus.
He said unlike countries that didn’t take the Covid-19 outbreak serious and disregarded all stay-at-home instructions, Ghanaians have so far taken the disease serious even though some remain recalcitrant and move around town, posing danger to others.
He repeated the need for people to respect the stay-at-home order, saying the virus has no legs to move except when human beings carry them.

“The secret is that we are doing our things according to the directives we have put in place. In other countries, they didn’t take the disease serious . . . those citizens refused to oblige as some of our people are doing,” he said.
He expressed fear that Ghana may experience what some European countries are going through if citizens refused to comply with the directives.
He advised that social distancing, regular washing of hands and the usage of hand sanitizers, as well as staying at home as directed are observed religiously.
Dr Nsiah-Asare also advised Ghanaians to desist from lifestyles like chain smoking and other activities which will end up weakening their immune system.
He said the virus was so dangerous to the extent that failure to adhere to the directives of the Ghana Health Service will spell doom for majority of Ghanaians.
