Sudan Prime Minister survives assassination attempt [Photos]

Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok has survived an assassination attempt after a bomb blast occured near his convoy in the country’s capital, Khartoum on Monday.

According to reports emanating from Sudan, a bomb explosion hit Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok’s envoy as it was heading to his ofice but no one got hurt and the prime minister had been moved to a safe location.

Video footage posted online showed that two white vehicles belonging to the Sudanese government were damaged with their widows broken.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility by any group, agency or terrorist organization.

  

Hamdok confirmed the incident on Twitter, he posted images of him sitting in his office smiling while a news network was reporting on the attempted assisnation. 

In the Tweet, he wrote that he was “safe and in good shape”

“What happened will not stop the path of change, it will be nothing but an additional push in the strong waves of the revolution.”  

Hamdok was appointed prime minister in August 2019 following months of negotiations, between the military and the pro-democracy groups after the military ousted former ruler Omar al-Bashi
