Mosquito hints of joining NDC’s flagbearership race

General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is hinting he might join the flagbearership race of the party.

Johnson Asiedu Nketia revealed that he will be ready to serve should party members elect him to lead the NDC ahead of the 2020 general elections.

General Mosquito as he is popularly called made the comment while reacting to former President Jerry Rawlings’ description of him as ugly.

Jerry Rawlings at a rally to mark the NDC’s 25th year anniversary at Ashaiman over the weekend said it was a pity that the NDC General Secretary was ugly, otherwise the party would have made him flagbearer in 2020.

“…it is a pity he (Asiedu Nketia) is ugly…If he were handsome, we would put him on a horse to go and help. Considering how light he is like air, the horse will run faster,” Rawlings said drawing laughter from the crowd.

But Mr Asiedu Nketia on Adom News Monday said the former President was only making fun of him because of the overwhelming cheering crowd he pulled after joining the ‘big men’ on the podium.

He noted that, he is not bothered about his physical feature because he believes it is a gift from God.

General Mosquito as he is popularly called maintained that “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder” thus Jerry Rawlings’ comment is taken in good faith.

He however did not rule out chances of leading to NDC in any elections should he be given the nob by party members.

‘For now I’m the General Secretary but if the mantle to given to me, I will gladly accept’ he told Adom News’ Kofi Adoma.
