The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has suspended Patrick Allotey, for six months for assaulting a Kumasi Asante Kotoko fan at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The incident happened on January 26 at the Accra Sports Stadium during the ‘Super 2 Clash’ between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
The former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa super welterweight champion was caught on camera assaulting a fan named Michael Siaw.
The suspension, which took effect from February 6 after a meeting between the GBA executives and the boxer at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, is expected to end in August.
Allotey, 26, who lost a world title to Mexican Jaime Mungua in September last year, is already being investigated by the Ministries Police where he has been charged for assault.
According to his management, Cabic Promotions, they will appeal the suspension after describing it as harsh.
The victim, who had a cut under his left eye, is said to be recuperating steadily.
