Kofi Apaloo speaks on fight between him and Ayariga at IPAC meeting [listen]

-

Founder and Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana, Kofi Apaloo, has denied media reportage of him being in a fight with colleague founder and leader of the All People’s Congress, Hassan Ayariga at the just ended Inter-Party Advisory Committee meeting.

Explaining what led to the brawl at the meeting, Mr Apaloo, speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show on Friday, said he and Mr Ayariga were too distant to have been involved in the said scuffle.

Narrating what he says truly happened at the meeting, Mr Apaloo said he tried taking a video of Mr Ayariga’s confrontation with officials of the EC, but was approached by Mr Ayariga’s secretary to stop filming what was happening.

“What truly happened was that, Mr Ayariga, while making his submission, got into a little confrontation with some leaders at the meeting. So I started to record what was taking place, but his secretary later approached me to tell me to stop recording which I immediately did. I didn’t fight him at the meeting, those are lies,” he noted.

Mounting a defence, Mr Apaloo said with the exception of representatives from the media, there were no standing orders barring him or other members from filming proceedings of the meeting, so he saw nothing wrong with taking a video of his ‘friend’ Ayariga.

Mr Apaloo, therefore, accused Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Peter Boamah Otokunor, of being the one spreading lies about him being in a fight with Mr Ayariga just to discredit him.

“Otokunor is the one spreading the lies that Ayariga and I fought. He is telling lies, he only wants to make me unpopular,” he said.
