The management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko are set to drop striker, Songne Yacouba ahead of their epic clash against Hearts of Oak, adomonline.com can confirm.
The Phobians will host their sworn rivals at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana version of El Classico on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium at 15:00GMT.
Following Dr Kwame Kyei’s revelation after the Sunday’s win on Sunday that the club will not be able to meet the $150,000 demand of the 27-year-old, the Burkinabe star has handed a transfer request to the management of the club.
However, adomonline.com understands that head coach of the side, Maxwell Konadu is set to drop the striker in order not to destabilise the club.
Yacouba’s contract with the Porcupine Warriors will expire in April this year and has refused to sign a contract extension with the club after several attempts to have him stay on.
He joined Asante Kotoko on a two-year deal after a successful trial at the club in 2018.
Yacouba rose to fame to become the fans favourite during their 2018 CAF Confederation Cup campaign where he scored two goals with five assists.
His sterling output secured the club a place in the group stages of the competition where he was chased by several clubs including Nkana FC, Zesco United, Al Hilal and others.
Ghana Premier League sides, Hearts of Oak and Legon Cities FC have expressed interest in signing the striker according to reports in the local media.
He is yet to score in the ongoing Ghana Premier League after featuring in all the five matches played so far by Asante Kotoko.
