The National Teaching Council (NTC) has described the licensure exam for teachers as an important tool for the teaching profession.
According to the Executive Secretary, Christian Addai-Poku, the licensure exam is a fitness test to assess if a teacher can deliver as expected or not.
He said the licensure exam started with fierce resistance but is now popular among teachers because they are accepting the licensure examination has come to stay.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr Addai-Poku stressed NTC will not compromise on the quality of teachers in Ghana.
“One of the mandates of NTC is to professionalise the teaching profession and the quality of teachers determines the quality of your education so we need to be strict to ensure the basic fitness test,” he said.
