Information reaching Joy News suggests a ferry loaded with three cargo trucks is currently sinking in the Makango River, located in the East Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
Reports filed by Isaac Nongya, Joy News’ Regional Correspondent, indicated that the ferry, which travels between Makango and Yeji, will soon totally submerge in the river if no immediate intervention takes place.

According to Isaac, the ferry, which was bound for Yendi in the newly created Bono Region, first loaded two of the three trucks filled with tubers of yam but begun to sink after the third truck was added on.

Meanwhile, the owners and boys loading the ferry who were taken by surprise could do little about the situation as personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and other secure details are yet to move to the scene.
