The government has been urged to show more commitment to the implementation of its policies in the 2020 budget.
Dr Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a lecturer at Central University College, believes the government after touting its achievements and announcing laudable policies, fail to act on those policies, a situation he says stalls the country’s growth.

He, therefore, wants the government to be truthful and more focused in ensuring that each and every Ghanaian has his or her share of the national cake.
“My only problem is that though the intent of the 2020 budget document is a good thing, its implementation becomes a problem, government should not just talk, it should act on its policies. All the funds we need to ensure that these policies are implemented should be released immediately so that the nation is not drawn backwards,” he said.

He made the comment on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Thursday, following the Finance Minister’s presentation of the Akufo-Addo-led government’s Budget Statement and Economic Policy for 2020 to Parliament.
The Finance Minister increased 2020 revenue target to GH¢67.1 billion, a projection Dr Otchere-Ankrah described as ambitious since for many years the government had missed its revenue targets.
