Kumasi Asante Kotoko have sacked their coach Kjetil Zachariassen after crashing out of the 2019/20 CAF Champions League, Adomonline.com can confirm.
The Norwegian watched his side lose 3-0 against Etoile du Sahel at Monastir in Tunisia.
Coach Zachariassen, however, did not return with the team to Ghana after he claimed he had been told his safety could not be guaranteed back home.
He returned to Ghana on Wednesday and met a dismissal letter from management of the team which terminated his contract with immediate effect.
Coach Zachariassen was appointed in July this year to replace C.K. Akonnor who was harshly fired after leading them to the group stage of the continent’s second-tier competition.
Per his contract, coach Zachariassen was tasked to lead the Porcupine Warriors to the group stage of the 2019/20 CAF Champions League in the first season.
Then in the second-year, qualify the team for the Champions League again with the target of a semi-final berth. And in his final year, tasked to reach the final of the CAF Champions League, but all have been cut short.
