The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Agona East in the Central Region has revealed how the John Mahama-led administration awarded a contract for good roads to be destroyed in the Gomoa East area.
According to Dennis .A. Frimpong, who says the move was politically motivated, majority of the roads which were in good conditions were all destroyed together with the bad ones.

“A contract was awarded in 2016 for the contractor to destroy roads on the orders of the then government. Most of the roads were in good condition but the government allowed the contractor to destroy the roads all because of votes,” he alleged.

Mr Frimpong, speaking on Adom FM’s morning show ‘Dwaso Nsem‘ on Tuesday, said the contractor since 2016 has failed to report to work because the then government failed to pay him.
He noted that though the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has paid half of the money to the contractor, the roads are still the same.

“We cannot control the contractor because the NPP government was not the one that awarded contract so we just had to terminate the contract,” he added.
He said the government has awarded fresh contract and work will soon commence on the Agona roads.
