The District Chief Executive of Ellembelle, Kwasi Bonzo, is accusing the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of failing to construct a single kilometer road at Nkroful in the Western region.
He said the Mahama-led administration awarded a partial 16 months contract but as at the time the New Patriotic Party came to office, no work had been done on the road.
Mr Bonzo’s comment follows a demonstration by residents of Nkroful, the hometown of Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah, on Wednesday against the government over the bad road which links the town to Essiama Village.

The demonstrators, numbering about 600, threatened to boycott all national activities should government fail to construct the four-kilometre road stretch linking the two towns.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen show, Thursday, he said “I engaged the chiefs to talk to the people to call off the demo because work was about to kick start and the demo wasn’t necessary. The contractor told us he was not being paid so he stopped but because the road leads to Kwame Nkrumah’s hometown, we wanted to do something in his honour by making a 6.5 km asphalt,” he said.
