Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Prof. Mike Ocquaye, is of the view that gays are humans with deviant conduct who should either be treated medically or subjected to spiritual deliverance.
The speaker, who doubles as a Baptist Minister, in an earlier reaction to issues of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual and Transgender in Ghana said the House will not be coerced to pass any legislation that endorses gay rights.

Delivering his remarks at the Speaker’s Prayer Breakfast meeting on Wednesday, the speaker stressed that the human rights arguments often advanced for such rights are not tenable.
“Ghana must take a stand against homosexuality. The western world has a problem with the phenomenon, caused by an increasing sway towards individualism,” he said.
Prof Ocquaye said there is no chapter or verse in the Bible or the Quran that supports homosexuality.
