Hundreds of residents in Cape Coast and its environs have been trapped in their homes with their houses submerged in floods after six hours of heavy downpour in the area.
The heavy downpour, which started Tuesday night, has rendered major roads in the region inaccessible.

Farmlands in Cape Coast have also been submerged by the rains in the wake of series of floods that have hit parts of Ghana in recent times over what is believed to be issues of climate change.
Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service in the region have been to the scene to pump the floodwater away from the streets and affected homes.

School authorities have, meanwhile, cautioned parents not to risk sending their wards to school considering the situation.
