Teach Ghanaian businesses importance of stock market – Founder, Clever Lines charges Ghana Stock Exchange

-

Stephen Asiedu, Founder of Clever Lines, a Ghanaian company into printing and publishing, has charged the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) to educate Ghanaian businesses on the processes and procedures to list on the stock market.

This he said was important because a number of Ghanaian business owners and shareholders do not understand how the stock market operates and how profitable it is.

Mr Asiedu, who is also a former banker with 10 years’ experience, said Ghanaians are not harnessing the enormous opportunities that being listed on the stock market brings and therefore called on managers of the Stock Exchange, to educate Ghanaians on how to list their companies on the stock market and effectively manage their stocks.

He further indicated that an extensive education on the various processes involved in listing on the stock market and how the market works will not only yield profits for businesses and its owners but also boost the Ghanaian economy.

Touching on the importance of good corporate governance, the former banker and entrepreneur said management of the GSE must also train leadership of businesses on the importance of good corporate governance, marketing and branding as it is also a key factor which could boost investor confidence in the various Ghanaian businesses.

“What makes people lose their investments is when companies have bad corporate governance. The Stock Exchange markets should go ahead and train managers of companies which are listed on the stock exchange markets on good corporate governance, marketing their products and branding because one key element in the growth of an organization is its branding and a lot of times, Ghanaian businesses consider it as costly and therefore do not consider it a priority hence the reason why most Ghanaian businesses are not making it outside the shores of Ghana,” he reiterated.

Mr Asiedu, who was adjudged the best in printing and publishing at this year’s 40 under 40 awards, said Ghanaian businesses have a lot of opportunities if only they paid more attention to branding, marketing and good corporate governance.
