For dog owners, their pet means the world. They would do anything to keep their four-legged best friend happy, even if it meant sacrificing the things they love most. Their life revolves around their pet and everything is planned—whether it’s a weekend getaway or a long vacation—only after taking into consideration the comfort of the pet. And like birds of the same feather, dog lovers too flock together and whenever a dog owner spots another pet lover, he or she would definitely have a lot to share, and mostly about their four-legged bundle of joy. And when you have man’s best friend as your constant companion, you will completely relate to the findings of a study that states how a pet parent’s love life is dictated by the likes and dislikes of his pet.

3. Dog owners love getting photographed with their pets

We all know how difficult it is to make a pet pose for a photograph. Yet we would overcome all difficulties to click that perfect picture with our fidgety friend. But given a chance to pose with your lover or your pet dog, who would you choose? According to the report, almost 65 per cent (which is like two-third of the entire pet parent population) stated that they would click more photos of their pet dogs than their partner, spouse or lover. Isn’t that cute? So, you aren’t the only person whose phone memory runs out because you have a million pictures of your pet dog saved in the phone’s photo gallery!

4. People who would leave their partner for a week but not their dogs

Only dog owners know how it feels like to return home and be greeted by an eager and excited pet. This makes it equally difficult to leave them and be gone for weeks. So, when most dog owners go for a vacation, they make sure o check into dog-friendly hotels or resorts. But since such facilties aren’t easily available in lost locations, dog owners would rather spend their time with their four-legged friend at home rather than visit a place without them. So, it didn’t come as a surprise when the study reported that 47 per cent of dog owners ‘would rather leave their partner for a week than their pooch’.

5. Mental health benefits of having a pet dog

Also, the study dwelt at length about the mental health benefits of having a pet dog. Almost three-quarters, which is approximately 75 per cent, of dog owners agreed that their dogs helped them get over bad moods. There have been many studies highlighting how owning a dog helps lower stress and boost self-esteem. Sixty-nine per cent of the study participants agreed that they took part in more physical activities after bringing home a dog. If you are still wondering whether you should adopt a dog or not, now you have enough reasons to become a proud pet parent, isn’t it?
