Outspoken Constituency chairman of New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono region, Kwame Baffoe, has revealed who have for years chased the government for their monies but are not going for them.
According to him, after countless demonstrations against the Akufo-Addo government, only 65 out of the over 240 contractors have presented certificates to claim their monies.

Abronye DC, as he is popular called, revealed this on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Tuesday after the Finance Ministry released 1.6 billion cedis to the Ministry of Roads and Highways to be paid to contractors.
Contractors, particularly those in the road sector, have for the past year been demanding payment for work done for the government.
They claim most of their members are bed-ridden due to threats from their bankers to mortgage their houses for not paying back loans.

But, after the release of the money early this month, Abronye DC said he expected a mad rush to the Roads Ministry but the contractors are very reluctant.
“All they have to do is to go to Fidelity Bank with their certificate for the money but only 65 have gone there which is very strange,” he said.

The NPP Bono Chairman said it was obvious majority of the contractors making ugly noises were doing 419 and just using the government as an excuse to deceive their debtors.
“If you go to Fidelity Bank and you don’t get your money, come and expose the government and I will support you,” he stressed.
