Demi Moore says she cheated on her first husband, musician Freddy Moore, in her new memoir, Inside Out.
The actress, 56, opened up on the early cracks in her first marriage to the musician, who she was wedded to from 1980 until their 1985 split.
‘The night before we got married, instead of working on my vows, I was calling a guy I’d met on a movie set,’ Moore, who was 18 when she tied the knot with the musician, said in an excerpt of her book published on People.
She continued: ‘I snuck out of my own bachelorette party and went to his apartment. Why did I do that? Why didn’t I go and see the man I was committing to spend the rest of my life with to express my doubts?’
The Roswell, New Mexico-born beauty said that her nuptials to the musician came during an emotional time after her father Danny Guynes took his own life in 1980.
‘I couldn’t face the fact that I was getting married to distract myself from grieving the death of my father,’ said the star of films such as Ghost, A Few Good Men and Indecent Proposal. ‘Because I felt there was no room to question what I’d already put in motion. I couldn’t get out of the marriage, but I could sabotage it.’
Moore said she was 16 when she first crossed paths with Freddy, who was married at the time to his first wife Lucy.
‘I was a self-absorbed teenager who hadn’t been raised with a lot of respect for the institution of marriage,’ she said in an excerpt of her book published on Us. ‘And I jumped into life with Freddy without, I’m sorry to say, much concern for his wife.’
Moore’s marriage to Freddy was followed by high-profile Hollywood unions to Bruce Willis from 1987 to 2000, who she shares daughters Rumer, 31, Scout, 28, and Tallulah Belle, 25, with; and to Ashton Kutcher from 2005 to 2013.
Moore’s new book, Inside Out is available in stores now.
