Government seems to be backtracking on its promise to provide a dam to every village in the five Northern regions.

According to the Minister of Special Development Initiative, Mavis Hawa Koomson, it is literally impossible for all villages in the five Northern regions to have dams.
This is contrary to a campaign promise made by the New Patriotic Party during the 2016 elections intended to encourage farming in the North during the dry season.

When quizzed by Dwaso Nsem sit-in host, Omanhene Kwabena Asante the motive for the change, Hon. Koomson maintained the policy is intact.
Rather, she explained that, every constituency is entitled to 10 dams, thus, the villages are entitled to choose where they want them to be.

Citing Garu, a town in the Upper East region as an example, the Minister of Special Development Initiative said the dam, which is 90 percent complete, will serve other adjoining villages in the area.
Hon. Koomson added that they are committed to providing water to communities for a year round farming.
