Audio: Kwame Zu’s apology enough to pacify Okyenhene – Eastern region NDC

-

The Eastern Regional branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not lead a delegation to Okyenhene’s palace to beg on behalf of their colleague, Kwame Zu, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC.

Regional Secretary, Cudjoe Adukpo said they have not taken any such decision following the three-day ultimatum given them to apologise.

The party risks being banned following the unsavory comment made by the Secretary.

Mr Zu is reported to have said the people of Kyebi including their paramount chief, Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin II competed with animals for water until former President John Mahama provided a source of water for the residents.

The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council on Monday, September 23, 2019 led a demonstration against the leadership of the NDC.

Though Mr Zu has apologised in writing, they have vowed to prevent the NDC from holding any political activity in the area if they don’t pacify the stool.

But, Mr Adukpo on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Wednesday said the apology by Mr Zu should be enough to end the matter.

He could not fathom why they would be blamed for the unfortunate conduct of a party member in another region.

“Okyenhene is one of the chiefs the NDC respects in this country but we think Kwame Zu has done the honourable thing. I think he should be forgiven,” the NDC Eastern Regional Secretary said.

Mr Adukpo said they will only rescind their decision if NDC National Executives ask them to go to the Okyenhene’s palace to render the unqualified apology.
