Audio: Probe resignation of BOST MD…COPEC to govt

-

The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers, Ghana (COPEC, Ghana) wants the government, to as a matter of urgency, investigate the circumstances leading to the resignation of the Managing Director (MD) for Bulk Oil Storage and Transport (BOST), George Mensah Okley.

Chief Executive Officer of COPEC, Duncan Amoah, says the situation requires thorough investigations considering the complex and polarised nature of BOST.

“We are calling on authorities to ensure that whatever systemic failures, whatever managerial failures that existed be investigated immediately,” he told Accra based Neat FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

Mr Okley is said to have tendered in his resignation to the President on Friday, August 23, 2019.

Reasons for his resignation are unclear, however, there are reports that it may be linked to an issue of contracts at BOST.

There are reports that Mr Edwin Provencal has been named as the new MD for BOST.

But, Mr Amoah said the government should give clear reasons for Mr Okley’s resignation.

To him, the way BOST is being managed does not give confidence in the sector.
