Slaves must be honoured – Steve Harvey after Cape Coast Castle visit (Video)

-

American comedian and presenter, Steve Harvey, after shedding tears during his visit to the Cape Coast Castle in the Central region through the ‘Year of Return’ initiative, said there was the need to honour slaves who passed through the ‘Door of No Return’ 400 years ago during the slave epoch.

He expressed the real pain he felt during the visit to the castle on his Instagram page.

Talking more about the pain, Mr Harvey described it as something “powerful beyond words that I cannot explain.”

He urged his fellow Hollywood players, who haven’t marked it on their calendars, to visit the Castle for first-hand experience.

He captioned the post:

“Visit to the Ghana Slave Castles. This was real pain I felt going back to Ghana’s slave castles…I could feel my ancestors on me… Powerful beyond words that I can’t explain. I encourage as many of you as possible to go HOME for your ancestors. Their strength is in each of us and we must honor their ultimate sacrifice in all that we do. #TheYearofTheReturn.”
