Teachers participating in new curriculum workshops to get GHc50 allowance, T&T – GES Director

Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa has disclosed teachers participating in the new curriculum workshop will be paid an allowance of GHc50 at the end of their workshop.

According to Prof Opoku-Amankwa, the workshop which is non-residential is taking place in about 996 district centres across Ghana with about 150,000 participants.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Show, Prof Opoku-Amankwa explained GES chose the centres within the districts at the convenience of the participants.

“The teachers have been put into groups and each group will take a week to complete their workshop at the end of which they are given a GHc50 allowance and GHc50 for their transportation.”

Prof Opoku-Amankwa added: “No participant will be housed within the period but they will be given food. They will also be provided with a teaching guide as well as the syllabus and the entire workshops will last 3 weeks.”

The new curriculum developed by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) for KG One to Primary Six is expected to be implemented in September at the start of the 2019-2020 academic year as teachers are being taken through the new curriculum in nationwide workshops.
