Human Resource (HR) practitioners have been urged to leverage on the evolution of technology to enhance their organisational goals.
The Chief Executive Officer of Hollard Insurance, Patience Akyianu said she believes the use of technology is driving the global market and that there is a need for HR practitioners to be abreast with current trends to enhance their organisational goals.
According to her, one can benefit greatly from adopting the use of technological skills and therefore encouraged HR practitioners to embrace the opportunity for their benefit. She stated this at the launch of the second edition of Tullow HR mentoring programme held in Accra.
“Without being strong in technology, you will not get far. Data Analytics has become very essential in predicting customer needs and behavior. So if you position yourself as an individual who analyses data, you will go far. This is one thing HR practitioners should Know,” she said.
She also urged HR practitioners to look out for individuals who have some entrepreneurial ability. This, she said, will make an individual a valuable contributor to their businesses.
Madam Akyianu further said the obsessive focus on customer service is very essential to businesses. “Some businesses continue to lose due to their poor attitude towards customer service, therefore, we cannot have people who do not have customer service inclination, because that is how we lose valuable business and key clients. So it has become very important skill to acquire in other to survive in the corporate environment,” she said.
The Business Service Director of Tullow Oil Ghana, Irene Asare in an interview with Joy Business said she believes HR has moved beyond administrative perspectives to building and growing businesses and individuals through creativity.
“Our role as HR is to enable businesses and people to be the best. HR absolutely has a role for the future and there is the need to enhance HR to partner with businesses for organisational growth”, she said.
She, therefore, encouraged the 23 mentees to make use of the opportunity offered them to enhance professionalism in HR. She encouraged them to make sacrifices to achieve their goal.
It is very important for PR practitioners to be guided to take leadership positions. This is according to the executive director of Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners (IHRMP), Ebenezer Agbettor who believes;
“Guidance is key and this initiative will help young entrepreneurs to be well equipped with practical experience and knowledge to practice professional human resource management.
“This year’s Tullow HR mentoring programme is in partnership with the IHRMP and China Europe International Business School to train and empower young mentees in HR.
