AFCON flop: Kwesi Appiah is Ghana’s best, deserves another chance – Dep. Minister

-

Deputy Minister of Transport, Hon. Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover believes James Kwesi Appiah should be handed another chance to lead the Black Stars till 2021.

According to him, technically the coach is the best Ghana can boast of currently.

Speaking to Asempa Sports, Hon. Titus-Glover emphasised that though coach Appiah has a problem of late substitution, this is the time he needs the support of Ghanaians.

“We all accepted that Kwesi Appiah‘s problem was late substitution; particularly when he kept my darling boy, Asamoah Gyan on the bench during the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) but that shouldn’t warrant his sack. At least let’s give him opportunity up to 2021 AFCON and if things remain the same we show him the exit door,” he said.

“After the AFCON, people were calling for the head of Kwesi Appiah and I told them to exercise patience; this is the time Kwesi needs our encouragement and support because technically, I can tell you Kwesi is the best because currently, the league in Ghana is not ongoing so are they going to rely on past glories?

“I told the Minister (Hon. Isaac Asiamah) that he should be very careful of comments that Kwesi Appiah should be sacked,” he added.

Coach Appiah was appointed for the second time in 2017 and had his initial contract expire in March this year.

But, he was handed a six-month contract extension to lead the team for the Nations Cup.
