Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo Constituency has descended heavily on the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service following the exoneration of the former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, Charles Bissue.
Mr Vanderpuye could not fathom why the CID keeps clearing government officials involved in corrupt acts but choose to shield the real reports from the public.
He also could not understand why a case such as Tiger Eye PI investigations, which captured Mr Bissue collecting bundles of cash, should be swept under the carpet when the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) had commenced investigations into allegation of corruption made against Mr Bissue.

“I find it very interesting and worrying. We all watched the Anas tape and saw what transpired and so why should we sleep and wake up only to be told by the CID that Mr Bissue has been cleared?
“Then it means the CID is interfering in the work of Martin Amidu, what happens to his office?” he quizzed.
Mr Amidu has said the decision by the Police CID to investigate the presidential staffer, despite his opposition, was political.

Sharing his views further, Mr Vanderpuye charged the CID to make the real reports on government officials involved in corrupt acts public and stop interfering in people’s work.

“Anytime there is any government official involved in fraud or whatever, we hear CID clearing them and then reports are nowhere to be found. Recently, we heard Kwame Owusu of Maritime and other officials have been cleared without reports when we are aware of their acts. They should just stop clearing and work,” he said.
